Holiday in Nagaon

Before writing about our stay at Ballaleshwar Cottage, Nagaon, I would like to just give a brief about Nagaon. Nagaon is a small beach village  located very near to the strategic town of Alibaug. The distance from Pune to Nagaon is just 170 Kms. Get Directions http://goo.gl/fBKDx. If you are coming from Mumbai http://goo.gl/os4uo. Visitors from Mumbai can even go for a ferry ride from the Gate Of India to AliBaug.

Our quest for a weekend holiday began with searching for places to stay in Shrivardhan (a beach village near Harihareshwar). After going through most of the top queries returned on Google we were content and  had shortlisted a couple of places that looked decent. All was finalized as Friday came closer. But suddenly on Thursday night my sister and wife decided to change the weekend holiday destination. They wanted to make the stay more mesmerising and eventful. So, now just a day before the journey began there was no place we were going to. But after connecting to a couple of friends and some search on google our new destination was finalized and it was Nagaon Beach. The only reason which qualified Nagaon beach over Srivardhan was the awesome water sports that make the beach stay more eventful ...ahhh at least we were going somewhere, I said to myself.  We all started to search Google to find a good place to stay, but as the time was less we were not able to qualify any resort.

So our journey began for Nagaon at around 4 PM in the evening with some tension and nervousness in mind that we are going to Nagaon with no place to stay. The new Express High has its own evil profile, but we found the highway drive very pleasant. While going from Pune, at the Khalapur Toll you need to cross roads and move right where the road leads for Pen. Pen to Alibaug is a very old road so had to be very careful driving there. It was almost 9 in the night when we reached Nagaon. Not knowing the good places to stay we started randomly enquiring about in resorts we found ok. But no luck and it was almost half n hour gone by. Just then my mom bothered a anxious looking family, “any good places to stay nearby?” Yes said the man, was the head of family, but we only rent our rooms to families. And there was a happy family!

With proper arrangements in place, the place was looking no less than a good hotel. The rooms were spacious, good to accommodate at least 6-7 people in a room. Having searched for sometime in the vicinity old uncle gave us the best deal. Each room per day Rs. 900 and what was cool no check in / check out at 12. Just stay as a part of family was what they mentioned.

About Ballaleshwar Cottage: Not a commercial resort, has two rooms with good bathrooms, a big dining area, small garden to ease out, hot water available on request, veg-Non veg food available with fish & sol kadi as a speciality. Gives a feel of our very own village home just near the sea.

Nagaon Water Sports: Water sports at Nagaon are fun filled. Rides include banana, jet, dumble, boat, scooter and the star attraction para sailing. You can bargain as per your budget for rides. Its really a life time experience on the rides.

So a fun filled weekend came to end. The return journey was sleepy as most of us were very tired and waiting to get back home. This holiday really helped get a refreshing start. Would recommend people to visit Nagaon at least once.
